How Killarney Provincial Park began!! Sheer devilment by Newland Spreadborough!! From Cottage Life's 1993 story about the Spreadborough Cottage Yacht Registry and an interview with 84 year old Margaret (Spreadborough) Hooton who spent her first summer at the Pool, Baie Fine in 1917. 'An entry in the yacht registry from September 2, 1931 shows a sketch of four small figures bent under packs and canoes. The signature is A. Y. Jackson. Jackson and here is a portion of a letter he wrote to his relative Naomi Jackson Groves on October 22, 1933 and postmarked 'Willisville' October 25, 1933. "I merely make sketches. Painters in La Cloche

Five members of the Group of Seven and many of their contemporaries painted in the Grace Lake, Whitefish Falls, Willisville and McGregor Bay areas of La Cloche. Franklin Carmichael, A. J. Casson, A. Y. Jackson, Arthur Lismer and J. E. H. McDonald painted and stayed in the area at different times from the 1920s until the 1960s. Joachin Gauthier, York Wilson, Sir Fredrick Banting and Isabel McLaughlin are just a few of the artists who painted with them.
